Tom Rowan is Founder and Managing Director of Rowan, with over 28 years' experience in environmental consultancy and forensic engineering. With a vision to ‘provide excellence with a sense of humour’ Rowan assist their clients to achieve their environmental and sustainability compliance obligations and objectives. Tom has developed a client base for Rowan which includes local authorities and private sectors including renewable energy (Wind, Solar, BESS, AD), Food and Drink, Quarry, Waste, Pharma and Insurance. Graduating as a chartered Civil Engineer with a Higher diploma in business studies from UCG (now NUIG), Tom was heavily involved in discussions with the EPA during the formation of the early Food and Drink EPA Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licences in the mid-1990s. Rowan’s expertise in Licensing & Compliance, EIAs, environmental risk assessment, environmental due diligence and ESG/Sustainability provides Tom with a rounded knowledge in many environmental areas. Tom has also worked extensively as a forensic engineer (expert witness) providing expert witness testimony in the High, Circuit and District Courts throughout Ireland for both personal injury, property damage and environmental claims and prosecutions. His combined experience in environmental consultancy, health and safety and litigation gives him a unique experience in the strategic benefit of environmental compliance and the brand risk associated with non-compliance. Tom enjoys sharing his practical knowledge on environmental management, risk, regulation and forensic engineering through CPD seminars for insurance companies, third-level institutions, environmental seminars and commercial organisations.
