Chris Wheeler has over 25 years' experience as a construction lawyer in Ireland, the UK and Canada. Chris has acted for county councils, contractors, Irish semi-state infrastructure bodies, developers, lenders, design professional firms, independent power producers, food manufacturers and insurance companies. Chris’ practice areas span procurement and origination to contract negotiations choices among bespoke RIAI, JCT, FIDIC, NEC4, IChemE, mid-project recalibration strategies through to the full construction dispute options including adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Recent extensive experience in the renewables sector negotiating EPC and EBOP/ICP contracts for solar farm developments in Ireland and the UK. Chris has worked as in-house counsel in Ireland and in Canada for a Independent Power Producer, a global top three engineering firm and a major North American Assurance Company spanning roughly 9 years in total bringing insight into the board and general counsel commerciality requirement in providing advice and drafting services. Chris lectures extensively on construction law matters, participated in the drafting of the original PWC suite of contracts and conditions of engagement including the training roll out.
