Breeda is a former Midwife and Community/Public Health Nurse. She first became interested in menopause in 2018 while completing a psychology degree. As she reviewed the research on midlife women-the most under researched cohort in academia, menopause piqued her interest. Her shocking lack of knowledge about this life-stage spurned her on to continue her studies and complete a masters on menopause in 2020. “Silence Taboo and Midlife Women” is the title of her dissertation (on google scholar). This involved interviewing women in Ireland on their experiences and understandings of this life stage -A taboo subject shrouded in stigma and silence for decades. Breeda sees menopause as a societal and cultural issue. She believes all of society need to become educated on menopause -Women Men Girls and Workplaces. Having worked and supported 100’s of women over the past few years. Breeda sees education as the key driver in assisting all women successfully navigate this highly significant life stage. Her mantra is educate…educate…educate…its lifechanging! Breeda is a sought-after speaker on menopause and midlife women. She has contributed to numerous conferences seminars and presentations in both the UK and Ireland. She loves talking on the many different aspects of menopause and in doing so is contributing to breaking the taboo.
